Meet Curt Steel, a dedicated law enforcement professional whose career is deeply rooted in service. His career at the Riley County Police Department in Manhattan, KS, began in 2006. He achieved the rank of Sergeant, serving as the Training Coordinator in the Administration Division. Curt's journey within the Department has been diverse, including roles as a K-9 Handler, Police Training Officer, Special Investigations Unit, and Crisis Hostage Negotiator Assistant Team Leader.
Education plays a significant role in Curt's life. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Christian College of Kansas. Curt later pursued a Master’s in Public Leadership and Administration from Arizona State University. With a commitment to both educating the next generation of criminal justice professionals and enhancing training methodologies on a national scale, Curt's influence extends beyond the precinct into the realm of academic and professional development. Curt serves as a part-time adjunct instructor for Central Christian College of Kansas and is a senior instructor at the National De-Escalation Training Center.
Married to his wife, Jessica, Curt is blessed with two children, son Carson and daughter Jaylynn. Their family thrives on outdoor activities, whether it's playing sports, enjoying the lake, or fishing together. Jessica contributes to the local school district, engaging with kids on a daily basis.
Meet Tyler Siefkes, a graduate of the A.Q. Miller School of Media and Communications at Kansas State University. Tyler began his professional career in sports radio at Manhattan Broadcasting Company. In 2008, he moved into the public sector becoming an emergency dispatcher at the Riley County Police Department. During his career at RCPD, Tyler has served as a Dispatch Trainer, Shift Supervisor and the Communication Center Manager.
Tyler's career in dispatch has revolved around servant style leadership and education. During his time as Communication Center Manager, Tyler successfully led the center through several significant projects including the implementation of a new radio infrastructure and accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. In 2013, Tyler revamped the Dispatch Training Program at RCPD, implementing the concepts of Problem-Based Learning, Emotional Intelligence, and incorporating the use of adult learning theories. Tyler has also been fortunate enough to combine his love of dispatching and football, serving as the Dispatch Supervisor for K-State home football games in the Emergency Operations Center.
Tyler and his wife, Brianna, have two wonderful daughters, Jordyn and Kennedy. The family loves attending football games together, whether it be seeing the K-State Wildcats, the Green Bay Packers, or the Kansas City Chiefs. They also enjoy family game nights and golfing.
